Y-lab is dedicated to understanding the intricacies of human and animal mental processes, especially in the context of complex and interactive decision-making. To achieve our research goals, we employ a wide range of methodologies, including human psychophysics, animal electrophysiology, and computational models. Specifically, our research aims to reverse-engineer the principles underlying various cognitive functions, such as:
1. Prediction and planning
2. Social inference and Learning
3. Computational neuroethology
4. Human-unique cognition
Additionally, We explore other fascinating mental processes.
Our research approach transcends the confines of systems neuroscience, as we actively draw inspiration and insights from multiple disciplines like artificial intelligence, cognitive science, and computational ethology. By embracing the multidisciplinary approach, our aim is to unveil the fundamental design principles governing the complexities of the brain.
